North Vernon Panther Invite
Coming off the high of our tournament win in Terre Town, this tournament gave us one last chance to play together as a team for this summer.
We went 1 & 2 in pool play, with an embarrassing loss to Smithville followed by a solid win against the Ironmen.
In tournament play on Sunday, we topped Ironmen again on the back of some tough pitching, timely hitting and awesome defense.
Which meant...we got Smithville again. This time, we played with pride and toughness. We came out on the short end of it again, but we gave them a run for their money and made em sweat it, closing it to 7-4 heading into the bottom of the fifth. The Scrappers added three more runs before the time limit expired, robbing us of our chance to respond.
Don't worry, we'll be seeing Smithville a lot over the next few year - there will be plenty of chances for revenge!

Champions!
The Terre Town Invitational goes to the Dynamite!!!
Saturday's games against Paris (an 14-6 win) and Danville (an 11-7 loss) showed moments of the team we can be, but lots of mental mistakes, especially in game 2.
Sunday...we showed we're a team that can dominate when we play well. Total team effort overcame some bad defense in the game against Paris, giving us a 13-6 win.
Game two against Terre Town was utter domination. Overwhelming pitching, great defense, and bats that showed pop...yeah, we won 17-1.
The championship game gave us a chance to redeem ourselves against Danville. I'd say we accomplished that, and more. Again, fantastic pitching, great offense, golden gloves (how about that circus catch to end the game!), and we win 10-3.
Sweet. Enjoy it boys. It's result of a lot of blood, sweat and tears.

This was a real good showing for us as a team. It has taken a while, but we're starting to gel. Not quite as many wins this weekend as we were hoping for, but a good team effort nonetheless.
We were quite dominant against the Riley B team, jumping out to a 13-0 lead on them. After an interesting inning, they closed on us, but we got a solid win, 13-6.
Game two against the Hurricane showed we can hang with some fantastic teams. They won, but I love how we didn't quite and fought back after an early deficit. Final score, 11-7.
Game three, and yep, we had the Hurricane again. We showed improvement, even though the game was immediately on the heels of the loss. Final score, 9-7.
Take a week off boys, we got a couple good tourneys in July!

Paoli Slugfest Wrap
Wow boys. We've got work to do.This weekend we ran into the what may be the best team I've seen at our level - Jefferson GRC. We got exposed a little - but that's ok. It shows us what we need to work on.
We didn't play bad against Brownstown. Bats went to sleep a little, and we were probably a little over aggressive on the base paths (I think we had four or five thrown out at home or heading to another bag). Pitching looked pretty good except for one anomaly of an inning. I look forward to seeing them again and wining!
Sunday, we had a few mental mistakes, but bats showed some life against Ohio Valley Tribe. Final score, 9-6.

Mitchell Tourney Wrap Up
We played well in two and half of our four games. We were one inning away from going 3-1, but we fell apart, giving one up.
We were dominant against Mitchell in Games 1 &3. Good pitching, good defense, and decent hitting.
We had Unionville right where we wanted 'em in Game 2, down 5-0. But, we got a little loose in the field for one inning and let them creep back in and take the 6-5 lead to the end.
Game 4 was a fluke. No worries boys - your bats are too good to stay that quiet for long!

Terre Haute Tournament Wrap Up
Tournament #1 is in the books! It was a great weekend out there - we saw some great things from the players, learned a lot as coaches, and look to build on the good start.
In all the innings we played, I believe there was only one inning in which we didn't put some runs up on the board. That's impressive, especially considering that this was the first time a good number of players played in a kid pitch game!
Results:
Game #1: Dynamite vs. Outlaws...WE WIN
Game #2: Dynamite vs. Hurricanes...Loss
Game #3: Dynamite vs. Paris...WE WIN
Game #4: Dynamite vs. Beford...Loss
Looking at the scores, we scored 31 runs and we gave up 31 runs over the course of the tournament. What's that mean?

Next tournament is in Paoli, June 1&2. Rest Up!!!
Hopefully next tournament, we won't have to kill 6 hrs between games. They boys did get creative and find their inner toddlers.

Saturday Practice OUTSIDE!!!
Also, we'll be taking uniform information so we can ensure our jerseys will be here by our first tournament April 20/21.
Our jerseys will be exactly the same as last year (which will help those who kept theirs in good shape from last year or held one back that's still unused). I'm sure everyone needs new hats and we'll discuss the pants on Saturday.
More details on tournaments will be available soon, so check back soon.
