Thanks Tim for some great pictures. The boys played well this weekend despite two hour delays, ridiculously late game times, etc. Certainly we would've loved to have played that final game, won and taking home the first place trophy, but thems the breaks. Still, it was great to get out on the field as a team again!

We are close to the midway point if our season, so I thought posting some individual stats might be interesting (These stats don't include today's game, but I think it's one we'd like to forget anyway or the practice games against Bloomington teams).

Champions!
I love it - this is going to be a 'never-say-die' kind of team. Saturday we looked flat, but Sunday we came to fight.
In the semi-final game, pitching by Jake and Blaise shut down the Smash. They were dominant and we got some offense going.
The final game started rough. Dawson was slinging, but we didn't help him much and lax defense dug us a pretty big hole. We were down 7-1 going into the bottom of the fourth. We put up three in the fourth, but gave one back in the top of the fifth.
The bottom third of the line up was due up in the fifth. After a bad call put Joe on the bench for the first out, Gabe drew a walk, Lincoln hit a single, and Shane drew another walk. Cayden came up with the pond full of ducks and ripped a double, plating all three.
Going into the sixth, Dynamite was down one, but the Blazers had the heart of the order coming up. Not a problem - bring in Parker. He mowed em down - striking out the side (and actually cracking a smile in the process).
We came up in the bottom of the sixth with our 4-5-6 hitters due up. Nathan starts the inning right with a rip down the first base line just inside the bag. He makes it to second standing up. Bracey gets himself a single, plating Nathan and tying the game. Oh, and he advances to second on the throw. Jake drops a bloop single in advancing Bracey to third. Big Blaise steps up with the winning run sitting at third. But, on the first pitch, Bracey takes home on a beautiful delayed steal - well coached Matt and TJ!
It was a fun game. Everyone contributed huge this weekend, making a key play when we needed it, getting the strikeout when we needed it, timely hitting, etc. Loved seeing the boys fight back and take the win, and hope that helps in future tournaments when we're down...but not out!

Two more games in the book...
Sunday's games were a good chance for us to move people around, experiment, etc. And, like we hoped, we got two wins.
If you're interested, here's the game sheets for Game#1 and Game#2.

Unionville Games on Sunday
We've got some practice games this Sunday!!!
Please be at the ballpark in Unionville (Danny Smith Park) as close to 12:15 as you can. The uniform of the day will be black (cue AC/DC's 'Back in Black').
We're always back and forth with our friends in Unionville. Hopefully we get some good practice, learn more about ourselves as a team...and walk away with a win or two.
For those of you who don't know how to get to the ballpark, type in 6800 E State Rd 45 and your GPS of choice will get you there. Basically, coming down the bypass (IN 46), take 10th St. (IN 45) east about 5 1/2 miles. The park will be on your right.
